Ernst & Young speaks on the state
of the biotech industry
According to industry experts, the biotechnology industry continues to grow and evolve. To evaluate the current trends, representatives of Ernst & Young Life Sciences presented the 2007 U.S. Biotechnology Report, one of the local industry’s most anticipated reports, to entrepreneurs, scientists and industry affiliates who attended September’s “Brown Bag” luncheon. The luncheon, organized by the Virginia Biosciences Development Center, was sponsored Ernst & Young.
About VBDC
The VBDC is the Virginia BioTechnology Research Park’s business assistance program located in its 27,000 square-foot incubator. Since opening in 1995, 63 companies have started in the Park’s incubator facility, 19 from Virginia Commonwealth University and 44 that were attracted from outside locations. In 11 years, the incubator program has successfully graduated 31 companies — three of which are now publicly traded — and has helped to raise more than $155 million in federal and equity funding for its tenants.
