IP issues for small bioscience companies
Joseph Tessari of Troutman Sanders discussed critical IP issues for seed-stage bioscience companies during February’s “Brown Bag” luncheon series, which was attended by the Park’s incubator companies and local scientists and industry affiliates. The luncheon, organized by the Virginia Biosciences Development Center, was sponsored by Troutman Sanders.
About VBDC
The VBDC, located at the Virginia BioTechnology Research Park, provides business assistance to start-up companies located in the park’s incubator facility. In less than three years, the VBDC has emerged as a major contributor to the growth of early stage life science technology businesses in the Richmond area. VBDC staff have counseled more than 23 start-ups and helped to launch eight of them. Since its inception, VBDC has secured cash and/or in-kind commitments, grants and contracts exceeding $750,000 for the benefit of growing the life sciences industry in the region.
