Tenants receive entrepreneurial tips from industry expert

Richmond, Va. - Entrepreneurs in the
life sciences industries must endure many trials and tribulations.
Barry Michael of B.A. Michael Consulting, LLC spoke to a
group of local entrepreneurs, scientists and industry affiliates
at January’s “Brown Bag” luncheon about
developing successful strategies for their entrepreneurial
businesses. The luncheon, organized by the Virginia Biosciences
Development Center, was sponsored by Crowne Plaza.
About VBDC
The VBDC, located at the Virginia BioTechnology Research
Park, provides business assistance to start-up companies
located in the Park’s incubator facility. In less
than three years, the VBDC has emerged as a major contributor
to the growth of early stage life science technology businesses
in the Richmond area. VBDC staff have counseled more than
23 start-ups and helped to launch eight of them. Since
its inception, VBDC has secured cash and/or in-kind commitments,
grants and contracts exceeding $750,000 for the benefit
of growing the life sciences industry in the region.
