Forensics institute expands at the
Park
Richmond, Va. – The Virginia Institute of Forensic
Science and Medicine recently expanded their presence at
the Virginia Biotechnology Research Park, and now occupies
additional offices in BioTech One to perform contract research
work for the U.S. Department of Justice.
“We are excited about the success of our program and
our subsequent expansion in the BioTech Park,” said Linda Carne, executive
director of VIFSM. “We are looking forward to working
closely with the Department of Justice and continuing to
expand in the coming years.”
Co-located in the BioTech Two facility with the state’s
Division of Forensic Science and Office of the Chief Medical
Examiner, the Institute provides hands-on training in a working
forensic environment for aspiring forensic scientists and
pathologists. More than 200 faculty members, many of whom
are staff members of the Division of Forensic Science and
Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, lend their expertise
in all disciplines of forensic science and medicine.
