VBDC director elected to national incubation
board
Richmond, Va. – David R. Lohr, executive director
of the Virginia Biosciences Development Center was recently
elected to the National Business Incubation Association (NBIA)
board of directors for a term of three years.
“I am extremely pleased to have this opportunity to serve
the incubation industry on a national level,” said
Lohr. “I believe my experiences as an entrepreneur
and as the past president and a founding director of the
Virginia Business Incubation Association will bring value
to NBIA’s membership. I look forward to utilizing my
experiences in the biosciences industry to represent the
needs of the biotechnology incubation industry.”
Lohr also serves as the director of business development
for the Virginia BioTechnology Research Park. The VBDC is
the virtual business accelerator within the BioTech Park’s
incubator, designed to deliver both management assistance
and basic support services to biosciences entrepreneurs.
Lohr will join the 14 other elected members on the NBIA board
of directors, who represent the world’s leading incubator
professionals, on Oct. 1, 2004.
NBIA, a private, nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, is the
world's leading organization advancing business incubation
and entrepreneurship. NBIA offers development activities
and specialized training to help business-assistance
professionals create and administer effective incubation
programs. NBIA
also conducts research, compiles statistics and produces
publications that provide hands-on approaches to developing
and managing effective programs. In addition, the association
tracks relevant legislative initiatives and maintains
a speakers’ bureau
and referral service.
