Start-ups are advised to protect their intellectual property

VBDC Executive Director David R. Lohr addresses
the October luncheon for local entrepreneurs.
Protecting intellectual property is critical for any business,
but it is especially important for start-up and early-stage
biotechnology companies. Mary Ann Merchant, partner at Troutman
Sanders, LLP’s Richmond office, and Jackie Haley associate
attorney in the Atlanta office, explained the “ins and
outs” of intellectual property law to a group of local
entrepreneurs, scientists and industry affiliates who attended
October’s "Brown Bag" luncheon. The luncheon,
organized by the Virginia Biosciences Development Center,
was sponsored by Troutman Sanders.
