SBIR/STTR Proposal Prep Workshop

With special focus on the National Institutes of Health

This full day workshop presents an overview of the SBIR/STTR programs at all 11 agencies, then focuses on specifics to the National Institutes of Health SBIR/STTR programs.  The NIH has over $800M available each year via SBIR/STTR, funding early stage, high risk research on projects that have a high potential to make a big impact. The NIH SBIR/STTR programs have three deadlines per year:  April 5, Sept. 5, and Jan. 5.  Learn how to plan, engage with the NIH, and begin to write a compelling and compliant proposal. Event will be taught by BBC ETC, one of the leading SBIR consulting firms in the US.

AGENDA: 

8:30AM-11:45AM: SBIR Program Intro. A basic intro to SBIR/STTR; compare/contrast various agencies, including NSF, DOD and NIH; A look at what is new in SBIR/STTR; tips to compete more effectively; resources available to Virginia based firms to support your SBIR and STTR submissions.

11:45AM-12:15PM: Tips from NIH SBIR Program Mangers from NCI & NIAID

12;15-12:45PM:  Networking LUNCH provided -- meet with NIH reps!   

12:45PM-4:00PM: NIH SBIR/STTR Proposal Preparation: Details of putting together an NIH SBIR/STTR proposal; Telling your story in only 6 pages; Doing your homework; a section by section look at writing your proposal; NIH SBIR/STTR budget preparation.

4:15PM-5:30PM:  CIT Funding Sources -- This session will detail the Federal Funding Assistance Program, CIT GAP Fund Program, and info on the 2017 Commonwealth Research Commercialization Fund Solicitation!
