Recent developments in university support of commercializing technology in Virginia

In the past few weeks both VCU and U.Va have announced fantastic programs that have the power to significantly impact the formation of new life science companies and speed technology transfer into commercialization.

Michael Straightiff will talk about the brand new seed fund which will deploy $10 million over the next 10 years investing in U.Va. start-ups.  Ivelina Metcheva will talk about the Quest Innovation Fund which was recently expanded to include additional funding for "proof of concept" work that will help to de-risk innovation and open the door to new partnership and investment.

Panelists include:

  • Ivelina Metcheva, Executive Director, VCU Innovation Gateway
  • Michael Straightiff, Executive Director, U.Va Licensing & Ventures Group
