Park tenant, UNOS, honors the life and achievements of Michael DeBakey, M.D., FACS, who has passed away at the age of 99.

Insmed: Biosimilar matches Amgen drug neupogen
Park graduate, Insmed Inc. (NASDAQ CM: INSM), a Richmond-based developer of follow-on biologics and biopharmaceuticals for unmet medical needs, announced that it has demonstrated the bioequivalence of INS-19, the company's recombinant human granulocyte colony stimulating factor (G-CSF), compared to Neupogen, an FDA-approved G-CSF product for the treatment of neutropenia that recorded 2007 sales of approximately $1 billion.

VCU Pauley Heart Center announces national Dr. Carolyn McCue Award for Woman Cardiologist of the Year program
The Virginia Commonwealth University Pauley Heart Center recently announced a national award for women physicians to honor the memory of Carolyn McCue, M.D., who in her day ventured where few men, and even fewer women, had gone before — into the practice of pediatric cardiology.

School of Nursing faculty member receives research award
Nancy L. McCain, D.N.S., R.N, is the 2008 recipient of the Southern Nursing Research Society Distinguished Researcher Award, which recognizes the lifetime achievements of an individual whose research has enhanced the science and practice of nursing.

Susan G. Kornstein, M.D., has been chosen by Jewish Women International as a 2008 Women to Watch honoree for her work as a pioneer in women’s health.

VCU part of international research team awarded Wellcome Trust grant to study molecular genetics of depression
Virginia Commonwealth University is part of an international research team that received a Wellcome Trust grant totaling more than $2.8 million to identify the genetic variants that have an impact on the risk for recurrent major depression.
