Since it opened, the Park has developed a unique mix that
includes more than 50 biosciences companies, research institutes
affiliated with VCU, and major state and national medical
laboratories and organizations involved with forensics,
testing
of biotoxins and management of the nation’s organ transplantation
process.
With the announcement of the new $300 million Philip Morris
Research and Technology Center, the Park will include nine
buildings filling more than 1.2 million square feet of space
and employing more than 2,000 scientists, researchers, engineers
and technicians in fields that include drug development,
medical diagnostics, biomedical engineering, forensics, environmental
analysis and transplant procedures.
To continue to develop and accommodate the rapid growth of
the biotechnology industry in the greater Richmond area, the
Park has worked closely with VCU, other academic institutions,
business, government and not-for-profit organizations. Through
these partnerships, the Park is able to facilitate technology
transfer and business development, as well as attract more
established biotechnology companies to the area.
We encourage you to read more about our partnering organizations.
